2023 is our 9th year and it is very exciting to be part of the growing  vegan movement in Cornwall, with new cafes, shops and restaurants being opened, while others are offering more vegan options!

 

Situated in Penzance, Bleujennow was the first completely vegan accommodation to open in South West Cornwall.

The house is Edwardian, and feels like a comfortable family home. We are at the north end of the town with views over the town and harbour, and right next to an iron age fort!   Small and delightful, we offer a two room plus bathroom space. The bedroom has a double bed and the second room is a sitting /dining space with a mini kitchen. It is ideal for a couple who would like to be able to cook and eat rather than going out for meals. There is a cot and two blow-up children's beds also available, and the sofa in the second room can be made into a very comfortable single bed if wished. The bathroom has a loo, bath and shower; the kitchen is equipped with a fridge, combination oven, hob, sink, kettle, and toaster. TVs are in both rooms and there is free Wifi.

 

Sorry but we cannot accommodate companion animals.

Stepping lightly on the earth is important to us, so as well as avoiding harm to animals by being vegan, we take the environment seriously, and most waste goes into our compost bins, up to Bleujennow Crafts to be upcycled, or recycled. We have solar panels on the roof, high energy performance ratings on all our machines, and reduce water use as much as possible. As far as possible we buy local, or at least UK grown, produce, and within its natural season.

To help you travel light, we have available lots of things to borrow. Cot, blow-up children's beds, highchair, and other baby equipment; children's books and toys; beach towels, chairs,  buckets and spades, and other beach equipment. In the bedroom are slippers and bathrobes  as well as towels.  In the bathroom we have Faith in Nature toiletries which are made in the UK.

Penzance is the perfect town for a break, with an array of pubs, cafes, galleries, sub tropical gardens, and the famous art deco Jubilee Pool. There are  three main festivals: Golowan in June, culminating in the colourful Mazey and Quay Fair Days; in the winter, there is Montol, celebrating the winter solstice; the Penzance Literary Festival in July

 

To the west is Mousehole (where the cat lives!), Lamorna, Land's End and the Minack Theatre. To the east is Marazion, from where you can reach St Michael's Mount by foot or by boat. Around the entire coast you'll be spoilt by choice for spectacular cliff walks!  Inland, there are some fantastic walks to ancient monuments, including Carn Euny and the Merry Maidens. 

 

We are ten minutes walk from the train and bus stations, and the town centre. From Penzance, trains and buses run to most places in Cornwall, including the picturesque train journey to St Ives, with its wealth of art galleries, including the Tate Gallery, and glorious north coast walks. Even the Eden Project is easy to get to by train!

 

I always try to imagine what I would like to be available in places I stay. I've spent some uncomfortable nights in the past with one thin pillow, and bedding which leaves some bits of me out in the cold! That's why I make sure my guests have plenty of pillows and extra sized duvets on the beds. I've also stayed at self-catering places, been out to shop for a meal, and then found there was no salt or pepper in the kitchen! There is everything you'll need in ours, and I add to them when guests suggest things .
